It’s Been 40 Years!
June 2025 was the 40th anniversary of my high school graduation. 40 years! It doesn’t feel like it was that long ago!
On Saturday, September 27, a small group of the graduates from W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences class of 1985 got together at Dawson Street Pub in Philadelphia, PA, for a reunion. I was excited about the gathering. The only classmate I had maintained a close relationship with since graduation was my bestie Vicky. The others, although we were cool and got along, I hadn’t kept in touch with over the years. Well…maybe a few here and there on Facebook.
When I walked in the door, there were lots of hugs and genuine happiness seeing each other after 40 years. It felt good reminiscing about the silly antics and drama of high school days and catching up with where life had taken us. Someone had put two of our former classmates, who weren’t able to be there, on FaceTime so we could say our hellos. Though sad, we honored classmates who are no longer with us by mentioning their names and remembering their humanity.
The night became even more special because one of our teachers joined us.
Being with my classmates for that brief period reminded me of how young and innocent we were. The world was different and a better place. If there were such a thing as a time machine, I’d be one of the first passengers with “destination back to high school” as my first stop.

If I could go back in time, I’d definitely choose high school!
Those were some crazy, fun, anxiety-driven days — full of learning, growing, and figuring out who we were. We built forever friendships, experienced puppy love and crushes, and started that big transition from being teens to young adults, preparing for life and college.
I’m still in touch with a few of my FLC buddies — we all live in different states now, but every time we talk, it’s like no time has passed at all. 💜 Unfortunately, we didn’t get to have our milestone reunion this year, so you’re lucky you did!
